(weewerk) with don brownrigg...

(weewerk) www.weewerk.com has signed Halifax-based Newfoundlander  DON BROWNRIGG www.donbrownrigg.com and will officially release his beautiful debut record "WANDER SONGS" May 20th. "Wander Songs" (weewerk)021 is a non assuming folk-pop record filled with wonderful songs that will pull you into the world that is Don Brownrigg. "Equally as comforting as a cup of tea, Wander Song's coats listless souls with love and warmth.  Don Brownrigg's soft vocals spill tales of love, longing and insightful introspection." - THE COAST: Top 50 CDs of 2007; "Folk Recording of the Year", "CBC Galaxie Rising Star Recording of the Year" - 2008 EAST COAST MUSIC AWARD NOMINATIONS.

(weewerk) is an independent record label, artist management, and promotions company based in Toronto, Canada.

(weewerk) was founded in November 2002 as a series of art-and-music salon events organized by indie-rock defender Phil Klygo (Skull Geek, teenage USA recordings, Canadian Music Week) and visual artist / curator Germaine Koh ( www.germainekoh.com ) in their Toronto apartment above uber-indie music store, Rotate This on influential/edgy Queen St. West.

The underground spirit of this endeavour quickly drew a devoted and wide-ranging following. As an extension of their DIY ethos, (weewerk) helped the young alt-folk artist Great Lake Swimmers release their haunting self-titled debut album in March 2003, and were immediately heralded as a fresh new record label within the independent Canadian music world.

(weewerk) will release 'Wander Songs' nationwide through Outside Music Distribution and digitally through IODA and Zunior.com

It's been too long

- WANDER SONGS CD Finished
- Cutting Edge of the Campfire Festival
- Fall Plans
- It was good to be home

Hey folks....So eleventy months have gone by for this site without an update.

I finished recording and 'Wander Songs' is back and in my hands. The release will be
September 14th at the...KHYBER CLUB! I've had a lot of firsts there and I'm very happy
to be releasing my first CD there as well. It's an 11 song album with amazing
artwork by Halifax's Sydney Smith and photos by Halifax's Mat Dunlap.
Special thanks to Don MacKay for engineering, brilliance, creativity, and putting
up with me and my "the, you know, whatever"'s. Huge thanks and props to the
folks who helped me out on the songs too....Benn Ross, Dan MacCormack, Don MacKay, Zac Crouse, Jim Bryson, Kris Pope, Jenn Grant, Tanya Davis.
You are all fantastic superheros....

I am very excited to be invited to play at Club Passim for the Campfire Festival.
I've been wanting to go there for a long time now.
Looks like the Fall will bring me back to the US I hope and with any luck,
into Ontario and Quebec. I hope, I hope Newfoundland. Details will come asap on that.

I just did another couple guest spots for some friends' albums.
Some vocals, harmonies, and accordion
I love doing that - going in for a few hours, being a voice-on-a-stick or whatever.

Finally, a big hello to all the folks from home in Newfoundland.
I just had the greatest time in Codroy Valley - where I'm from.
I miss you all and the Valley itself.
Everyone should go there. You should go there - do a google of it (or check Links).

Specifics on the Wander Songs release show will come.
I think that's all for now but I'm sure there's more.

say it ain't so fall,
